Our Story

Harvest Mission Community church began in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1996 with a group of 8 people and one vision for God: to see people's lives transformed, redirected to God's purposes, and sent out to transform the world for the glory of God. Over the years, we were humbled as God gave us the privilege to see the church grow and expand with new churches being planted in Chicago, Austin and Indonesia.

In the years leading up to 2010, many Singaporean students became members of HMCC Ann Arbor. As they experienced God’s love through the church, their lives were transformed and they developed a heart for God’s mission and vision around the world. When they returned to Singapore, they continued to meet regularly in prayer and to maintain a biblical community.

As they connected with other HMCC alumni, they realized the need for a church with the same vision in Singapore. They approached the leadership of the church to pray about the possibility of planting a church. After an extended time of prayer and consultation with the leadership, HMCC of Singapore was established in the fall of 2010. The church marked a shift in the paradigm of church planting, as gatherings took place in a home, akin to the house churches in biblical times (Ro 16:5; 1 Co 16:19; Col 4:15; Phlm 1:2).

As the world continues to globalize and cities become cosmopolitan, it is our prayer that God will use HMCC of Singapore to reach the many nations that are represented in Singapore, to disciple and train them up to become the people who will take the Gospel back to their home countries. We hope to see a ripple effect that will begin in Singapore and spread to the ends of the world.
